My Approach
Naturopathic medicine is a system of primary care that pairs medical science with support for the body's own ability to heal. Here is how I practice it.
A licensed naturopathic doctor (ND) trains as a primary care physician in an accredited four-year medical program. NDs study the same biomedical sciences as conventional doctors, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and diagnosis, along with clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, lifestyle counseling, and other holistic therapies.
In practice, that means I can order labs, interpret results, and prescribe medications when they are needed. I also use nutrition, herbs, and lifestyle changes to support healing. I choose whatever is safest and most effective for you.
Guiding principles
Symptoms are signals. I look for the underlying cause and treat that.
The body has its own ability to heal. I work to remove what gets in the way and support that process.
I explain what is happening so you can make informed decisions about your care.
I start with the gentlest treatment that will work and do more only when it is needed.
Physical, emotional, and lifestyle factors affect one another, so I look at all of them.
I would rather help you stay well than wait for illness. Good habits now make a difference later.
What to expect
Your first visit is unhurried. I take a thorough history of your health, lifestyle, and goals so I understand more than the main complaint.
When it helps, I use a physical exam and lab work to get clear answers.
Your plan may include nutrition, botanical medicine, lifestyle changes, and prescription medications, based on your needs and preferences.
We track your progress, adjust the plan as needed, and keep working on prevention.
